About Ticka

Ticka is a day planner for people who forget — not because they don’t care, but because a single notification is easy to swipe away.

What Ticka is

Ticka is a mobile app that holds a day in three parts: a schedule with reminders, habits that keep a streak, and focus timers. They are separate tabs because they are separate kinds of thing — an appointment is not a habit, and a habit is not a stopwatch — but they describe the same day.

It runs on iPhone and Android. Your content is stored on your device; a backup is optional. There is a free tier and a paid subscription that removes its limits.

Who makes it

Ticka is built by Alterius, a small independent studio run by Maxym Naryzhniy. It has been in the App Store since March 2023. We are not venture-funded and we are not a large team — which is why the app does a few things rather than everything.

Who it is for

People whose problem is not planning but arriving: the reminder came at a bad moment and got dismissed, the habit broke on day nine and never restarted, the task was small enough to do and somehow still didn’t happen. If your lists work fine, you probably don’t need us.

What we believe about reminders

A reminder has one job — interrupting you at the right moment — and everything else decorates it. We looked at 2,252 user reports across eight reminder apps and found that the apps promising the loudest alarms are the ones users most often report as silent: promising an alarm is easy, but surviving battery optimisation, focus modes and a reboot is not.

We also think a missed day is not a failed habit. That is why streaks in Ticka survive one lapse instead of resetting to zero the next morning.

The free tools on this site

The timers, habit tracker and countdown here do the same work as parts of the app, inside a browser tab, with no account and no limits. They stop when the tab closes — that is the honest difference, and the only reason to install anything.
